update

okay so briefly
Mr. D is:
Less crabby (with some moments)
Meds are where they are supposed to be
walking more
doing his exercises
learning how to walk with a leg that is 1 1/2 inches longer than the other.
his swelling has gone down and the up and down fever is more down than fluctuating.

so over all he is doing good
apparently they had to break more of his bones to get the pins that have been in there since he was ten, out.
so considering that and putting in a giant hunk of steal into an area that was already painful.
his hips according to the doc were crushed together, he had lost 2 inches in height. now after the new hip is in he is quite a bit lopsided. :) LOL.

so that is the gist of it.
the kids are doing a bit better now that I am home ,
I did not realize that they had such a hard time with me going to work.
I think now that things will be settling a bit it will be less stressful for them.
I am hoping that we don't have that much traffic running threw here
(that was a hint for prayer ;D )
by that I mean people coming and going.

The doctor said that he can drive in about ten days or less depending on his progress.
that will be really good.

more updates to come.

Less crabbiness is always good! What can be done about the lopsidedness, anything? My dad has a leg that is quite a bit shorter than the other (from polio) and he has a lift put on one shoe.

We'll be praying for you all. Being in pain and being tired can make any of us cranky. Hope Darren is feeling better soon!

I'm glad that healing is coming along well. That's amazing about the length difference, but it makes sense, doesn't it? When is he having the other one done?

Dad has had a lift on his shoe since he was about 7 years old. The shoe repair does it for hime every time he buys new shoes. Whatever they use is light weight and he never has a problem walking with the lift. I'm sure the drs. will set Darren up with someone.

Pins since he was ten, huh? Was he in an accident?

Glad to hear the surgery went well. When I talked to D before the surgery, he said they were going to replace both hips, but not at the same time. Any timeline on the other hip?

I hope his recovery goes well. Let us know if we can do anything to help - we'll keep you guys in our prayers :)
